We began buying from Vincent Boyer more than a decade ago, and since then the international wine press has widely acclaimed him as a rising star. Vincent took over his family’s domaine in 2002, and in just under two decades he has transformed it from a well-respected address to one of the brightest stars in Meursault. Blessed with an inheritance of terrific terroirs, Boyer continues to innovate and improve. The domaine’s organic certification will be soon be complete, and Vincent recently added an extra year to the elevage. “The wines just drink better a bit later,” he told us about his plan. He’s right, of course — a prolonged rest in large concrete eggs before bottling gives the entire Boyer lineup a plump richness.

Today Vincent and his sister Sylvie run the estate, with Sylvie focused on the vines and Vincent in the cellar. Their line includes a terrific entry-level Aligoté,  which far outperforms the grape’s humble reputation, and several impressive village-level Meursaults, notably Ormeau and Narvaux. At the top of the list are their three premier cru Meursaults from the town’s finest three vineyards: Charmes, Genevrières, and Perrières. These three are always in high demand, and rarely last long in our cellar — Vinous calls them “superb” and “very impressive.”
