Boyer-Martenot Auxey-Duresses rouge 2013

Winemaker Vincent Boyer is known around the world for his extraordinary white Burgundies, but he also makes a charming red from Auxey-Duresses. The Auxey (variously pronounced “oh-say” and “oak-say”) is pure Pinot Noir, showing notes of floral perfume and blackcurrants. We think it’s best served with food, and after an hour or more in a decanter. The wine is bright and fresh and mineral, with clean fruit and some of the savoriness often found in reds from the Côtes de Beaune.
