Gautheron Petit Chablis 2019
The Domaine Gautheron hews mostly to the style of classic Chablis. Winemaker Cyril Gautheron’s main focus is on showing his terroir clearly — when he uses barrels for elevage, he does so with a light touch. The result is wines that show clean, pure, Chardonnay fruit mixed with a stony minerality.
Despite its impressive freshness, the 2019 vintage also has more body than usual, making it a particularly attractive wine this year — lemon fruit, delicate minerality, terrific energy. We found this wine unusually good, and about as good a white Burgundy as $22 can buy.
