Ravaut Aloxe-Corton Vieilles Vignes 2015

This wine is made from 40-year old Pinot vines grown on the slope of the Hill of Corton, the modest prominence marking the northern end of the Côte de Beaune. Ravaut’s 2015 old-vine Aloxe (pronounced ah-LOHS; rhymes with “grandiose”) is a wine to put down and forget about for a while. In the mouth it’s a beautiful combination of precise, clean cherry fruit and dark floral notes. It finishes long with rounded tannins, but needs 5-7 years to recognize its full potential. But we can assure you it’ll be worth the wait.
