Thomas Morey Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2017
JASPER MORRIS 96 points: The vines date back to 1950 and 1959 in two plots on the Chassagne side. Thomas is an early picker here as he does not want to make the heady monsters of previous generations. This is indeed discreet on the nose and at the front end, then opens out to a seamless concentrated white fruit palate, with just a touch of riper yellow notes behind. Bit is certainly chiselled, muscular and very persistent: not a St Bernard, perhaps a wolfhound.
